Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a sweat-producing, breath-synchronized regimen of poses pioneered by Sri Krishna Pattabhi Jois, who died at the age of 92 in 2009. The system focuses on coordination of movement of Asanas (postures) with the Ujjayi (smooth, deep breathing), Drishti (focused gaze), and Bandhas (locks). The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.

The class includes two kinds of sun salutations, a sequence which opens the hips, a series of postures from the “primary”, “intermediate” or “advanced” series depending on the level, ending postures and relaxation. By learning to listen to, and move in synchronicity with your own breath, you begin to draw in the senses and bring about a deeper sense of awareness.

“Yoga is 99 percent practice, and only 1 percent theory. Without practice, it doesn't work; there is no benefit. So you have to practice, following the right method, following the steps one by one. Then it's possible.” - S. K. Patthabi Jois

Ashtanga MS (Mysore Style) Hubert
Open to all levels.

Mysore style refers to the traditional way of learning Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri K Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India. In a Mysore class students move through the practice at their own pace and level with the individual support of the teacher. The teacher spends one-on-one time with each student, giving adjustments and moving each student forward at a pace suitable to his or her strengths and abilities. If you are new to Ashtanga yoga it is recommended that you attend a few of the led-classes before trying a Mysore class.

Hatha Yoga Hubert
Open to all levels
Hatha Yoga is the most popular form of practice in Europe and can be taught in a number of ways (B.K.S. Iyengar, for example, emphasized alignment). We focus on the traditional way of teaching it in India, where the internal observation is fundamental; every student follows the instructions of the teacher. The class includes suns salutations, poses, breathing, and meditation. The poses are held for a longer time than in the previous classes of yoga.

Vini Yoga Sandra
Open to all levels.
Viniyoga is not so much a style as a methodology for developing an individual practice. This approach was developed by the great Yogi Sri. T. Krishnamacharya and continued by his son, T.K.V. Desikachar. It was introduced in the West by Claude Marechal. This is a gentle, slow practice where emphasis is placed on the student’s inner awareness and breathing. The inward gaze is made more profound through meditation, and guided relaxation.

Yin Yoga Hubert
Open to all levels.
Yin Yoga is a modern style Yoga which blends the Indian and the Chinese traditions. It was founded by Paulie Zink, a master of Chi Kong and Monkey Kung Fu. Zink believes that in order to be strong, the body first must be flexible. Each posture during a Yin Yoga class is held for 3-5 minutes to encourage the slow and safe opening of connective tissues. Yin Yoga deeply stretches and nourishes the joints of the body, leaving the yogi with an overall feeling of lightness, spaciousness and peace.

Workshops Hubert

Energize your practice and become transformed. Our Sunday workshop offers newcomers and experienced students alike an opportunity to build flexibility, strength, concentration, and body awareness while calming the mind and reducing stress. The 3 hour workshop proceeds in a slow, caring way with lots of individual attention. Every Sunday will feature a slightly different practice because it is based on the wishes of those who sign up. So, when you sign up, please remember to let me know what you want to work on: stretches, backbends, inversions, asanas. I will do my very best to design a sequence which meets your individual wishes and needs. The workshop lets you enjoy a sense of peace and makes you feel physically and mentally fit, strong and aware. It’s powerful way to start off your week.
