“The study and regular practice of yoga cultivate the interior world and can bring us back to our true selves”
Hubert de Tourris teaches yoga and offers Ayurvedic consultations, Ayurvedic massage and healing therapies at the Sattva Yoga and Sweet Om studios in Chamonix. He first learned about yoga in his teens and practiced it to reduce stress, improve flexibility and relieve physical pain associated with sports,
he has always been interested in the spiritual aspects of yoga.
He began teaching yoga in 2007, leading group and private classes for athletes, mountaineers, seniors, students, moms to be and all others, who wanted to overcome their body’s holding patterns, move more freely and easily and enjoy the life transforming practices of yoga.
He founded Sattva Yoga and Sweet Om in 2008.
Certified by Yoga Alliance International at the 500-hour level, Hubert currently teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa, Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin Yoga. He also leads the Mysore class and Yoga work shop. Hubert learned from powerful, confident and committed teachers direct students of Sri K. Pathabi Jois, BKS Iyengar et BNS Iyengar and Sri T.Krishnamacharya. Among his teachers are: Gustave Bjorkman, Marc Darby, Annick Goueslain and Caroline Boulinguez, the director of the Ecole Française des Ailes du Yoga. After his graduation from the Ecole, with the mention “tres bien,” Hubert has completed courses, training intensives, and advanced workshops in Europe and India with Yogis R. Sharath Jois, David Roche, Micheal Stone, Mathew Sweeney, Basia Lipska, Sheshadri and Rolf. He also has done Yin Yoga teacher training with Biff Mithoefer.
Hubert’s teaching style embraces the tradition and the spiritual philosophy of Patanjali Ashtanga Yoga. His classes integrate the asanas with the pranayama, with emphasis on core strength, flexibility and mindfulness. He challenges his students to be fully present in the class : to stay connected with the breath, and rather than being perfect in the pose, be fully awake, centered and aware of how the body feels. Offering students attentive and qualified instruction, and giving them space to experience yoga on a personal level, Hubert guides his students in their individual journeys as they become more powerful, more flexible, more healthy and more at peace. To connect with their inner Self.
Hubert began studying Ayurveda in 2006. He successfully completed an intensive two year course of study in Ayurvedic Massage at Tapovan, one of the leading centers in Europe for learning Ayurveda.
He is also certified by the Institut Européen d'Etudes Védiques in Ayurvedic nutrition. Hubert’s primary belief is treating an individual with a holistic approach. mind, body and spirit go hand in hand. Maintaining balance in all areas of life – body, mind, relationships to family and community, career and spiritually – is crucial. His course of healing focuses on making simple and slow improvements to one’s diet and lifestyle, and draws on the healing benefits of yoga, ayurveda, energy therapy (Reïki, and Marma therapy) and musical/voice therapy.
As a former mountaineer and a video cameraman of the high mountains, Hubert has nuanced understanding of how to work with athletes and their special needs of alleviating pain, improving flexibility in the shoulders and the hips and reducing mental stress. He studied anatomy with Blandine Galais Germain, a well-known specialist in kinestherapy, and has worked with people suffering from body aches, poor flexibility, stress, fatigue, or general malaise. Hubert strives to offer Yoga and Ayurveda as tools to improve people’s lives physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally.
“When we transcend dualities we touch into a spiritual oneness, completeness and wholeness and reach a state of Yoga. Yoga is a method to achieve this state of Yoga.”

Sandra Grange
Sandra has been practicing yoga for over a decade and teaching yoga full time to group classes and privately. Her teaching emphasizes the holistic aspects of yoga, integrating physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual well-being, as opposed to vigorous movement. Sandra received her Diploma from the Etude et Transmission du Yoga in 2009, where she trained with Claude Maréchal, one of the foremost teachers of Viniyoga, and a student of T. Krishnamacharya. Since becoming a teacher, Sandra has had the fortune of studying with many wonderful teachers: Martine Texier, Catherine Gruneberg, Bernadette De Gasquet, and Blandine Calais-Germain, to name a few. Her continuing training has been in Vinyasa, Ashtanga with Hubert, Yoga Nidra and Tantric Yoga. Her experience also includes teaching Pre-natal yoga and working with pregnant women to prepare them for childbirth. As a happy mother of two, she knows the powerful benefits of yoga on a woman’s body, her birth experience and recovery from childbirth. Sandra finds yoga to be profoundly healing physically and emotionally.

Charly Ferrand
Trail, ultra trail, carpentry, vertigo, Chamonix, coincidences, sports, mountains, tribes, choice, it’s always possible to do better, body, consciousness, research, evolution… all these words give a glimpse into Charly’s world. Charly knew he found something really good when he walked into his first yoga class with Hubert four years ago. Since then he continues learning, growing and evolving through daily practice, readings, exchanges and learning from Yogis like Marc Darby and Basia Lipska. Charly is keenly aware that Pattabhi Jois had it right when he said "Do your practice and all is coming."
